for unknown reasons. The infected retained some consciousness of their former selves and were able to use firearms, various equipment and armor. Although they looked mostly like normal humans, they were distinguished by bluish-gray skin that was misshapen around the mouth and glowing white-yellow eyes with no visible eyeballs.Most but not all of the infected population lived in the ruins of Dynamet Hospital and deep undeground in the tunnels and halls of Transport Station 5, sleeping or passively wandering around the building. But they were very territorial and, when disturbed, would always attack anyone who was not one of them, working together to defeat the intruders using rudimentary combat tactics and simple maneuvers.It was unknown whether those infected had an active virus and could infect others, or whether someone had to be injured by an actual rakghoul to become infected. It was also unknown whether those infected could be cured or whether their transformation was permanent.
